The institute was established in 2007 under the  Sagar Group of Institutions, which offered a four-year B.Pharm degree programme, the B.Pharm Lateral Entry programme, the two-year M.Pharm master's degree programme, and the two-year D.Pharm diploma programme. The SITM DOP, or SGI, is based in the Uttar Pradesh town of Barabanki. The Sagar Educational Society was founded in 2004 with the goal of educating students.
