This college was established in the year 1999 and is the brainchild of the former chief minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Kalyani Mahavidyalaya, Nadia is named after Kalyani, the satellite town of West Bengal, and is approved by UGC. It is the first-degree college established in Kalyani and is easily accessible to the students of Kalyani, Hooghly, and North 24 Pargana. The college is accredited by NAAC with a B grade and offers 20 courses in total. Earlier, Kalyani Mahavidyalaya offered only six courses, including two pass courses and four honours courses. However, the college now offers 20 courses, including B.A., B.Sc, and B.Com Hons. and General in the fields of Arts, Science, and Commerce.
