Founded on August 5, 1964, Lalbaba College is located in Howrah, West Bengal. Lalbaba College offers various courses in science, arts and commerce.  Every year the college intakes 4000 students who are taught by over 80 qualified teachers and are supported by over 20 non-teaching staff. The founding story of the Lalbaba College is very inspiring, and it goes like this.Children from local industrialists, aristocratic families, and ordinary people attended many good schools in the Belur, Bally, and surrounding areas in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Higher education became difficult for many because there were no institutions of higher learning in the area, and they had to travel to Kolkata to be admitted. The College was named after the illustrious Sikh Panth, Lalbaba, who significantly impacted the Belur region during the fourth and fifth decades of the 20th century. On August 5, 1964, the college was founded by the Lalbaba Trust with assistance from a few local social workers as a part of this collegiate educational complex. It was affiliated with the University of Calcutta to offer local students an undergraduate education. The Lalbaba Trust was in charge of managing the entire complex, including the college and the school and ashrama, at the time of its foundation. However, the college's governing body has grown independent over time and is no longer under the control of the trust.Lalbaba College is certified by UGC. The certification was received on September 7, 1964. The college is affiliated with the University of Kolkata.
