About All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi

The establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, commonly known as AIIMS, took place in the academic year of 1956. It is a medical college providing world class medical facilities with advanced techniques & treatment since its inception. The institute has been operating autonomously in eight different cities of India. The institute was established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It serves as a medical research public university located in New Delhi. It does provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in medical and physical-biological sciences.

Being ranked first among medical colleges in India by India Today, Outlook India, and The Week is a considerable achievement of AIIMS.

AIIMS is one of the oldest medical colleges in India and the infrastructure says it all. The campus of the institute is spread over a vast area in South Delhi. The hospital area, classrooms, laboratories, library, cafeteria, etc. are air-conditioned. It does provide all the basic amenities to the students. Some of the major aspects of AIIMS Delhi are mentioned below:

  • Library of the institute is known as B. Dixit Library, that has all the recent advances in medical fields, articles, research journals, and many more old age books.
  • The classrooms are spacious and do accommodate a large number of students. The rooms are facilitated with audio-visual facilities and comfortable chairs.
  • The entire campus is enabled with Wi-Fi. Student gets better connectivity in hostel rooms as well.
  • Hostel facilities are available for the students coming from out of the city.
  • Hostel compound houses barber shop, tailor, general store, book store, cafeteria, laundry, Photostat shop, etc.
  • The laboratories are facilitated with expensive equipment. All the recent technologies are being used in the labs.
  • Gymnasium
  • 3 wooden badminton courts, 2 table tennis tables, lawn tennis court, cricket pitch, football playground, and basketball court.

The faculty members of AIIMS Delhi are highly qualified. Most of them are experienced in their respective fields and are well educated. They try to put in all their efforts and deliver knowledge with ease. Some of the members have authored some great medical science books. Each batch has around 110 students and faculty hierarchy is huge. They use modern technology and are best in presentation skills.

The AIIMS Delhi Courses consist of various programs offered at undergraduate and postgraduate level. These programs are often offered under various specializations. MBBS and B. Sc are the programs offered at the undergraduate level and M. Sc is offered at postgraduate level. The programs are offered under various domains. The admission to UG and PG programs vary. The AIIMS Delhi Admission is purely based on the entrance examinations conducted at different levels by the institute.

  • For admission to MBBS and B. Sc, the candidates must qualify the entrance examination conducted by the institute.
  • The examination is conducted at the national level.
  • After clearing the examination, the candidates are advised to attend the counseling conducted at the institute.
  • For admission to M. Sc, the candidates are required to have qualified the entrance examination conducted by the institute.

The institute also offers Ph.D. at the Doctorate level. The admission procedure consists of qualifying the entrance examination. There are three stages to the entrance examination. The shortlisted candidates are advised to appear in the personal interview round conducted by the institute.

Most of the students of AIIMS Delhi do incredibly good and aim for better opportunities. Students with MBBS degree opt for post-graduation courses. Besides, after completing MBBS from AIIMS Delhi, the students usually opt for post-graduation courses or can serve as a general physician in most of the private medical colleges.

The application procedure of AIIMS is conducted at the national level. There are various courses offered by the institute the interested candidates can apply for. The institute offers programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and the Doctorate level. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute.

Eligibility criteria for different AIIMS Delhi courses:

For Undergraduate Programs

  • Candidates seeking admission to MBBS must have passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as main subjects from a recognized board.
  • For B. Sc Nursing, the candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (50% for RC) in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • For Bachelor of Optometry and B. Sc Medical Technology in Radiography, the candidates are required to have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% for RC) in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.

For Postgraduate Programs

  • For M. Sc, the candidates are required to hold a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.

For Ph.D. Program

  • Candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. are required to possess an MBBS or BDS degree securing at least 55% marks in aggregate or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh in the relevant field.

Admission to Undergraduate Programs at AIIMS Delhi

  • The institute conducts an entrance examination at the national level. Interested candidates must qualify the entrance examination for admission to MBBS.
  • This entrance examination is followed by the counseling process conducted at the institute.

The examination is conducted through Online Computer Based Test (CBT). The test consists of one question paper with 200 MCQ type questions. The questions are from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Knowledge/Aptitude.

  • Candidates seeking admission to B. Sc Nursing, B. Sc Medical Technology in Radiography, and Bachelor of Optometry are required to appear and qualify the written examination conducted by the institute.

For B. Sc nursing, the entrance examination consists of four parts to be completed in 2-hour duration.

Admission to Postgraduate Programs at AIIMS Delhi

  • There are various PG programs offered by the Institute namely M. Sc, M. Biotechnology, M. Cardiology, D. M., M. Ch., and M. D.
  • Admission to any of the Master courses takes place based on the merit list. Marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examination conducted by the institute are considered. 
  • The question paper of M. Sc and M. Biotechnology consists of 90 Multiple Choice Questions. The question paper is of 90 marks and the duration is 90 minutes.
  • For admission to DM/M. Ch/MD, there is a two-phased performance evaluation, in which the candidates are required to qualify a written test consisting of 80 MCQs (carrying 80 marks with a duration of 90 minutes). The shortlisted candidates are advised to departmental clinical lab assessment.

Admission to Ph.D. Program at AIIMS Delhi

  • Admission to the Ph.D. program is done based on the performance of candidates in the entrance examination followed by Personal Interview round conducted by the institute.
  • Candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. must possess an MBBS or BDS degree securing at least 55% marks in aggregate or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh from a recognized university (recognized by Medical Council of India).

AIIMS first round counseling 2019

The AIIMS B. Sc Nursing (Hons.) first seat allotment list 2019 contains the list of roll number and rank of the candidates who have been shortlisted for the first round counseling process. AIIMS B. Sc Nursing entrance exam was conducted on June 23, 2019.

A total of 1,379 candidates have been shortlisted for the first-round counseling process.

The number of candidates shortlisted for AIIMS B. Sc Nursing first allotment counseling is four times the actual number of seats available in each category.

Steps to Download AIIMS B. Sc Nursing first round seat allotment list

Step 1: Visit the official website of AIIMS exams- aiimsexam.org

Step 2: Under ‘Important Announcements' tab, click on ‘Roll no. wise result of the round 1st round of counseling for B.Sc. (H) Nursing.

Step 3: The first-round seat allotment list will appear on the screen in PDF format.

Step 4: Check your seat allotment status using roll number or rank.

Step 5: Download the same for future reference.

This year, AIIMS, New Delhi has given authority to conduct online counseling process for the admission in B. Sc Nursing for all AIIMS institutes across India. The mock round seat counseling will tentatively begin on July 11, 2019. Candidates will be required to register for AIIMS B. Sc Nursing seat allocation from July 11, 2019, onwards.

AIIMS has conducted online counseling process for admission to B. Sc Nursing course in AIIMS New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, and Rishikesh for the academic session 2019-20.
